where can i get just the sock filter for the 2000 csvt
returnless fuel pump i'm about to install a focus svt smart pump but i hear the pump filter is a different shape. i haven't had much luck finding one at the local pepboys and the dealer has no idea what i'm tallking about.

last time i pulled the backseat to toy with the fuel pump
i discover is was very nasty and fill of dirt and grimmyness
i tossed the circle screan filter with the cross post in the bottom of the fuel pump basket.

i cleaned the stock sock filter oh yea i have 65K miles on my 00 csvt. with brake cleaner and it seeemed to help for a few hour then problem arose. so i slit a tiny cut in the stock sock filter and that solved my main problem of the car cutting out and serging above 4k+ rpm's .

no i have secondariy troblems but have tracked that down to the imrc box which i need to replace as well.

but for now where can i find a new stock sock filter for my 00' csvt ???

Others have posted that this part is not available from Ford seperately.

I suspect that it may be similar to or perhaps even the same as the sock used on the Focus. There is a recall on the Focus fuel pump right now. You may try to see if a dealer technician that is doing those recalls would be willing to let you have the sock off from an old pump before he throws it away.

1. Was the sock filter dirty when you cut the slit in it?

2. If it was you've got a lot of 'stuff' in the tank.

3. I also had the same IMRC problem in that after I cleaned my sock filter (mine didn't clog again), my IMRC failed - the cable broke.

4. I think the failure is because that with the fuel starvation issue, the secondaries hadn't opened for quite awhile, which cause quite a carbon buildup in the secondaries. When you fix the fuel problem, the secondaries open and jam. The cable tries to close them, and eventually breaks. That's my theory.
