A cool $3 billion isn't bad for a little code. BTW, what is another search engine out there? I've used Google for so long the only option I could think of was yahoo. What were some of the others: AltaVista, Northern Light, ???

In retrospect, it was all downhill from here. RIP, CEG.

The biggest problem with that is that Yahoo's search actually uses Google's technology, so when google goes down, so does Yahoo search!
Another problem is that the issue that was causing google problems, the proliferation of the mydoom virus, is also taking down other search engines... the whole time I couldn't access google, I couldn't access yahoo or lycos either!
askjeeves.com is another good one.

That's something that exists on your computer, I think; any domain name that comes up not found takes you to the search site.

You can always try booble.com. Me and my brother noticed the trends with all the google offspring and clones so we tried to find as many as we could thing of. We laughed our asses off at the logo for a good solid hour.
My Zetec died one too many times so I got a new car.

Yahoo stopped using Google a long time ago. It no longer says "powered by Google" on their searches.
