Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums General General SVT Program on a SE...?

Last week I went to a Ford Dealership not to far from my place to pick up my intake. This dealership is well known for its after market/performance division. I got talking to the guy in charge of the performance division, and he mentioned to me that I may want to have them program my SE's ECU to that of the SVT's. He said he had that done on his Mystique, and he was a noticeable difference. I am just wondering if anyone has that done, and if what he is talking about makes sense, and if its worth the $175CDN?

why not just get a custom programmed chip that will match your hardware configuration...(ok, sounded a lil computer-nerdy, but it makes sense )

Read this, this was just gone over last week in the performance forum.


Its not reconmended as the svts have a slightly higher compression ratio...so for the performance you do get, its not worht the price of the ECU.(read the link, theres other problems with it)..get a chip after you have done ALL the bolt on mods you can....I reconmend getting it form Arizona Dyno Chip (Street Flight) after you have succeded in getting all your parts.

also, If you have a 1995 contour, the SVT ECU will not work, because a 1995 ia OBDI as a 1996 and up is OBDII.
