i just bought 4 plugs from the dealer and they gave me the following plugs:

AYFS22FM

But I noticed the thread is different length and the number DOES NOT MATCH the manual nor Haynes manual.

I currently have the AYFS22PP.

Can someone confirm whether the dealer is right and the FM will indeed work in the zetec (even though it seems like the threads are different) ?

Thanks

BB

Pretty sure that's the wrong plug. The length of the threads should be about 1" and double platinum. Just use autolite APP5364

That is what i thought.

I just came off the phone with Steve (Jenkins' replacement) and he did say that is the new number listed for the contour.

That the old PP's were replaced.

It's just an updated number...same thing with Autolite...5344 and 5364 are your choices. I used APP5364s the last time that I tuned one. More threads, seat depth is exactly the same, overall length is the same.

Mean Green's right, there's a new number for the plugs. IIRC, the Zetec and Duratec are the same, yeah? Methinks so. I saved one of the boxes in my tool box, if they're the same; I'll get the exact number off it.

They're not the same.

Why does everything always have to change?

i just came back from getting an oil changed (synthetic of course ) and i asked if they change spark plugs and they said no and i asked where i can go to get it changed and w/e they told me where to go and then i asked the guy how much to change the plugs since i already have auto lite double platinums ready to be installed and he said $40!!! but then he said that the auto lites will mess up the engine to get motor craft instead! is this true? or should i just smack him monday when i go? i also have a private mechanic ill call him and see how much he charges. but at the other place he said he also puts the plug wires and changes the plugs for $40.

1.
All i was thinking was to change the plugs not the wires is that ok to do? because im going to get ford 9mm racing plugs or w/e later on

2.
What should i do stay with Auto Lite Double Platinums? or exchange them for Motorcraft?

Thanks,
Robs

Keep the Autolites and do it your self. You don't have to change the plug wires at the same time, they usually last longer than the plugs anyway.

And a big "Oh yeah!" for the Zetec/Duratec plug difference.
