First, let the hood-latch "catch" on the lock. Then, with your palm directly over where the latch is, shove that summbitch down hard.

A better way to do it to, is to apply firm and steady pressure like your give some one CPR...let the latch catch, and then do that.

the thing is though, it isnt even catching the latch....the latch is like 1/2 inch forward toward the front of the hood, and it doesnt really look like it is even hitting the latch

The small bolts on each side of the hood, that hold the hood to the car, losen them...you can actualy do slight adjustments with them lose...but it takes 2 people to do....i found this out when i put a fiberglass hood on.....it was off center....i losten the bolts that connect the hood, and moved it down slightly...and it fit perfectly.

I have not seen the fitment of the livinsvt hood, but with the previous OEM CF hood, buyers had to remove the hood latch and dremel the holes (not the latch itself) to move the hood latch up so it catches the hood.

Go with Roz's suggestion and try loosening it first. If that doesn't work, you'll have to remove it, dremel and fit.

Loosen the bolts and move the hood so it will latch, also move the latch (doesn't move much, but it helps to move it). You should also turn the hood bump stops all the way down and maybe even cut them some. Then it's not gonna line up perfect with the fenders, loosen the fenders and move them.
