Does anyone know where the wiring is for the anti theft system? I am not getting any spark, and someone mentioned that perhaps it was the theft system....

the wiring is right under the steering colum covers, if you remove the top and bottom you will see a ring with some wires coming out of it, that is outside the ignition switch, thats the PATS thing, as for where the wires go, I got no clue

There is one more the control unit and it's located (oh rats is it the one just above the glovebox or is it to the right passenger foot-well. My CD is showing non-descript pic???
For led:
Whenever the ignition is switched on the LED will remain on for three seconds while the system carries out a self-test and then extinguish.

The LED will flash rapidly to indicate the PATS has immobilized the vehicle.

A fault on the PATS which enables the engine to start will be indicated by illuminating the LED continuously for one minute, and then flash the PATS fault code ten times. If the engine cannot be started (disabled by the PATS) the LED will flash fast for one minute, followed by the PATS fault code ten times.

For additional information on the PATS fault codes, refer to the Diagnosis and Testing section.
Now I'll go on the search for the codes.
This can get involved and ugly especially not having a Ford marked wiring diagram that goes with the manual!
Also need to read the PCM for codes.

The PATS uses a visual theft indicator. This indicator will prove out for three seconds when the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START under normal operation. If there is a PATS problem, this indicator will either flash rapidly or glow steadily when the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START. The PATS system also flashes the theft indicator every two seconds at ignition OFF to act as a visual deterrent.

The PATS will be activated and will disable the vehicle from starting if there is a:

â?? damaged encoded ignition key

â?? unprogrammed key

â?? non - encoded key (key has no electronics)

â?? damaged wiring

â?? damaged transceiver

â?? damaged PCM

One more note several of the tests involves Ford's "Star Gen" Tester---as in propreitary!

What is the LED doing key off, key on and key to start position?
