I'm seriously thinking about installing a pair of 12" of 15" subs Aperiodicly loaded.

If I do I'm going to seal the front wave with a baffle at about the same angle of the rear seat, starting where the glass and the trunk meet. Then I'll cut out the rear deck to show the finished side of the baffle and woofers. Then I'll cover that with a grille when I'm not in shows.

What do you guys think? I'm looking for SQ and I need opinions and or suggestion. Maybe I should just go with a sealed box.

This design is usually good for saving space.
Though from your description that isn't an issue here. They are also praised for "flat" in car response when done right.

Be aware that they usually don't have the
"impact" most people are used to hearing/feeling, and may require a upgrade in midbass drivers to compensate, but you won't know for sure`till you try it.

Also, make sure to seal the baffle COMPLETELY, top to bottom, side to side or it's going to sound like crap. It's just a resistively tuned infinite baffle after all.
Same rules of wave cancellation still apply.

Good luck...

Scooby was pretty well dead on, but if you add a variovent to a sealed enclosure, it acts much like stuffing an enclosure, it increases the apparent size of the enclosure and actually improves transients and sq. I say go for it if for no other reason than to have something different.

That's what I'm looking for. Maximally flat bass response, small footprint, and no boominess.

I will be getting an RTA curve before and after the car is done.

I also think I'll go with two 15" subs to compensate for the lower efficiency of an AP system too. Thanks for your replies.

I would recommend the Lambda PL or YD series from www.lambdacoustics.com if you are going for ultimate SQ.
