I have 4 Pioneer 6x9 3-ways in my doors (not sure on exact model number, but they are 60W RMS, 180W max). I have a Sony deck (I know, I know), and would like to get an amp to put a bit more power to my speakers. Do I need to get a 2 channel amp or a 4 channel amp (is it one speaker per channel, or is the front one channel and the back one channel)?

Also, does anyone have any suggestions on an amp to get? Obviously I don't need something crazy, just enough to put like 60w rms to each channel (and something that will still sound clean).

Thanks a lot!

You really don't need 60W rms going to each speaker, but you can if you want. Just to name a few good brands to look at.....JBL, Rockford Fosgate, Profile, PowerAcoustik, Alpine, Audiobahn (not a bad amp, but usually pricey, VISONIK. There are plenty of other good brands out there so just look around and find one that meets your needs and falls within your price range. If you have a question about a brand you have not heard of, just ask us and we will be able to tell you whether or not it is decent. Oh, one more thing...you probably would want to go with a 4ch amp (you could however use a 2ch amp to power all 4 interior speakers, but you would lose fading capabilities and probably want a higher power output)

you could also just go with a 2 channel amp and only power the front speakers. Sounds like you are a newbie and this would be a simple way to make a big upgrade over just the HU power
