I recently purchased a JVC Kameleon head unit for my 99 Contour SVT. This is my first time installing [or attempting to] a car audio component. I bought the wiring harness and believe to have everything connected correctly, but this cannot be the case because the reciever will not turn on, neither will my dome lights, and my key "clicker" does not function either... I have to use my alarm over-ride to start the car now... please help... I will give more information if it is required, but I'm not sure what you experts out there need to know... my email is enigmaxxiiv@aol.com. I REALLYNEED HELP W/ THIS GUYS!!! Could I possibly have blown a fuse??? Which one? When cleaning up my car, I found a small "tube" style fuse laying on the ground... where could this have come from??? Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like a fuse problem. Look in your owners manual for the fuse box locations and you'll probably find that the radio fuse has been blown.

Before you try replacing the fuse, check the ground and or the red positive wire. They might be shorting out. This will also happen if your speaker wires are shorted.

That 'tube' fuse may have somehow fallen out of the inline fuse on the 12V wire(red) going to your new head unit. Check there and check your grounds. Also check all your interior fuses. Your fuse box is under your dash to the left of the brake and swings down to allow access. Go through it with a fuse tester and see if one is blown. If your dome lights don't work this is most likely the case. Also, check all your splices/solders between the head unit and the factory wires to make sure you don't have any metal sticking out and grounding on something it shouldn't. HTH. laugh
