Whats the connection? I went from a single to a dual exhaust on my 2000 2.5. Why is there a CEL? My gas mileage sucks now.

Any ideas?

Should I get a scanner on this?

Finding which CEL code you are showing after a few miles is a good idea. Are you near an Autozone store?

Single to dual...my best guess and prolly a bonehead mistake, no MIL eliminator.

if this is a catback, why would i need a MIL eliminator?

A while back I had called Autozone or Kragen/schucks and they told me that under some new CA law, they could no longer SCAN any cars. I was thinking of buying a scanner. I figure it's a good tool to have around. Only about $120 or so.

I dont think its a clogged cat because i actually feel the car quicker. I kept spinning the wheels for the first couple of days just getting used to the torquiness of the car. So unless an O2 sensor happened to go bad as a coincidence, I dont know quite yet. My buddy said that when he did his catback system, Samething happened but ut went away after a couple of days.

Do I need MIL eliminators?

ok, you didn't specify cat back, i assumed you had duals made. so you have quasi-dual like an SVT then. There is no reason you would have a CEL from a catback being put on. Either it's just a coincidence or try resetting your PCM. If you reset it and it comes back, then get it checked out. Harbor Freight Tools sells a scanner for $49, serves me well.

I did a search for the PCM reset procedure and it says to pull fuses 4 and 11 from the distribution box, but my manual for a 2000 2.5 says that #4 is not used. What the? Also is fuse #6 related to this its titled EEC(ignition module)MEMORY according the ford manual.

Yes, it's fuse #6 that holds the power for the computer memory, so if you pull it, you wipe the memory of the fault codes!

hey, or you could just pull the left battery cable off and leave it off for like 15 minutes. That usualy works for me.
