It should be the one closest to the battery. If your ac is working at all, it should be cool, rather than hot when the ac is running. This can be a tricky thing. You really need to check the pressure to make sure your system needs the extra charge.

Where can one get an A/C kit. Any auto store or do I have to go to Ford?

Wal-Mart sells a kit (made by Interdynamics?) that contains a can of refrigerant, a hose to connect the can to the ac system, and a gauge to check the low pressure side of the ac.
