I want to make some custom sub boxes for my 12 inch DVCs. Right now they are in a big A@@ box that takes up all the room in the trunk. I want to split them into their won boxes and slide them into the outside corners of the trunks so you can be see the amps and x overs and cap that I mounted on the back of the rear seats. Question(s) are (1) Will too many corners in the box adversly affect the sound? and (2) Will pointing the subs towards the front of the car affect the sound too? Any comments, advice, would be appreciated.

From what little I know of box-building I do not think that the shape of the box matters whatsoever. The important thing is the volume. As for the direction the subs are facing, I have no idea.

Point them backwards. You lose some sp when you face them foward. When you face them back, the sound waves hit the back of the trunk and reflect back up to the cockpit, amplified (aka louder).

I suggest pointing them towards the trunk. Not toward the seat. I think it is louder...well it was with my 15" solobaric L7. Plus it will look good seeing the amp, x overs and subs all from the trunk opening. By the way, it doesn't matter what shape the box is, as long as the volume is what the sub manufacturer calls for. If you have any other questions about building, just ask and I'll help u out. I've built a few before with great outcomes.

ok good, thats what i was hoping, i woulda had to buy more speaker wire if it was the other way around...im cheap...my whole system cost me an estimated 225 dollars...lets count it down:

Pioneer DEH1550: $100
Alpine 12" subwoofer: $15 from chattavegas
Speaker wire 50 ft: free
Pioneer 180 watt 5X8's: freebie w/trade form my friend traded a ini shelf system for 4 speakers, not too bad)
Jensen A34XP amp: $60 at target.
Crank it up box: $45. just your basic box

Total $220.

have $5 left...what should i get

i havent hooked up the subwoofer permanently yet, i just plugged it in long enough to make sure it worked. didnt really have time to mess with getting it right, but i will eventually.
