hi
is the valve that controls the pressure on the return fuel rail the same on the std 170 hp engine and the svt205 hp engine or does the svt run a slightly higher rail pressure

FPR = Fuel Pressure Regulator

The SVT unit has a higher psi rating therefore runs at a higher fuel rail pressure.

For Ref - Returnless Engines have a Fuel Pressure Transducer

thanks demon
so that leads to next question
i am fitting SVT LIM,UIM,TB to my 170 hp engine but keeping my injectors,MaF , etc
would there be any advantage/ dissadvantage if i use the higher pressure valve with my set up

Considering your stock PCM is calibrated to run based on the stock FPR setting I would not change it.

However...

If you are running the stock 17lb fuel injectors and are getting near the 160-170FWHP (200 BHP crank) mark then the added fuel rail pressure of the SVT FPR could boost the 17lber's limit a bit.

I remember when those things were usually adjustable and I used to tinker with them. I suspect that you will find the slightly increased pressure beneficial. Don't expect any huge gains though. Any improvement would probably only be under heavy fuel demand, such as hard acceleration. The only way you can tell would be to try it. Often that is how hot rodding works.
