Hi, just purchased an 8" 50W bazooka EL8A on sale for $99.

I just finished installing it... from all my searches... I've plug the speaker input to the rear rights(brown=+, white=-) and rear lefts(brown/white=+, white/pink=-)
Power to sub goes straight to battery +.
Ground to chassis in trunk, near antennae.

The problem I'm having is after I turn off the radio/car... the bazooka makes a thump... thump... thump... noise and the woofer moves back and forth. This will go on for a good minute or two and then it dies off. Is this normal? Did I install something wrong?

Forgot to mention, I've connected the speaker input from the amplifier's output to speaker and not from receiver.

I gotta save up and get a real head unit. JVC digifine SH99!!!

Are you sure there isn't a midget trapped in the sub and just trying to get out? Maybe you're electricuting him when you turn it on and he tries to get out until the painful shocks render him unconsious! You should be ashamed of yourself!

I commend you on your choice of HU. I LOOOOVE mine. Think it's great. Looks good, sounds good, and isn't a b1tch to figure out.

Has a dedicated sub output, too!

As for your bazooka prob, I got no clue. Let me know how it sounds once you get it installed, as I'm looking for an inexpensive sub as well.

Ya need to go behind the glovebox and find the amp. Then tap into the wire-harness Before the amp. Cause the amp is workin to hard to drop the voltage down from the amplified signal. You will hear much better results I'm sure.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the speaker input wires from stock HU to Amp. I'm currently tapping my signal from the speaker output wires after the amp.

I'll be reinstalling everything once I've saved enough money to get an aftermarket receiver. Now it's between: Sony M620, JVC SH77 or SH99, and Panasonic U801.
Damn crappy stock HU is pissing me off.

How come no Alpine HUs in there. They am nice HUs and they match the interior of the Tour. I swear by them. Jazzman is an idiot, he wouldn't know a good HU if it bit him in the nutsack Just kidding! Really, I'm sure he could tell by the swelling

Seriously, take a look at the Alpines, they are good stuff. For Sony, look at the 850X model (has no buttons on the face, runs only off the joystick, and is loaded with extras). As for Panasonic, I think they look like a $2/hour whore.

BTW, I really was kidding about Brian being an idiot. Now I feel bad... I guess I could just not post this...

Don't forget to take a crap on the old HU after you put the new one in!

I don't know about the Alpine... the ones I like are all too expensive, and I think you're just paying more just for the extra "gadgets".
