I know this has been talked about in the past, but has anyone attempted to do a cougar dash conversion? I'm thinking about trying as soon as I get the cash, hopefully I find a nice cheap one. I'll post pictures when I start.

As far as I know, no one has actually attempted it yeat. However, I fully intend to try it as soon as I can get the cash to buy the things I need, i.e. the dash, center console and guage cluster. I too will be sure to let everyone know if it works out, though most likely won't be before this fall/winter.

cougar dashs are sick , as are the foci dashes, but the foci dash looks quite a bit narrower than the cougar's, and the couagrs dash looks narrower than the contours by a fair bit, but anything is possible with enough money time and skill.

cougar dashes look the same as contour ones with a lil bit of "modernism" to me.
the only problem I believe you'd have is with the wiring, not the fitment itself.

I've looked on my 99 Ford Cd rom manual at removal/installation of both the Cougar dash and the Contour dash. The Cougar has a few more electrical items, otherwise the steps are nearly identical. If you take a look, all the vent locations are the same, most switch locations are the same and the basic layout of the dash is the same. The shape on the passenger side is different where it meets the door so that may not flow well with the door panel but I'll have to get one ( dash) installed to see how bad it is. Since the Cougar and the Contour are on the same platform, I really don't think size and fitment is gonna be the big issue. I think it will be electrical, especially with the guage cluster since the Cougar has a 150 mph speedo and a digital odometer, I may also have to go with a Cougar computer, we'll see. I made the Cougar rear seats fit w/little problem, I'm thinkin I can get the dash to work too. Like I said, I won't be able to do any of this until maybe fall or more likely winter, but I'll keep everyone posted about it since there seems to be interest.

Not the best pics, but the only ones I have right now. They're a couple years old and in my yahoo albumn which i haven't even looked at for close to a year now, hopefully the links will work. http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/redcaddy75/detail?.dir=/1de2&.dnm=db00.jpghttp://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/redcaddy75/detail?.dir=/1de2&.dnm=94d9.jpg&.src=phThe second pic shows the metal thats exposed due to the different shape of the seat bottoms. I've since managed to get a small piece of spare carpet (thanks SpeedDemon) and covered that metal up. Also added a couple of custom made patches that lilredrocket was offering for a while, they have the swoopy cartoonish contour outline, looks pretty good. sl33stak...glad you liked them, you get the seats and I'd be willing to come help ya out, it's not exactly plug and play.

That looks pretty sharp. A few questions.... Do they still fold down? And, i know its probably not likely, but, were they made in midnight blue leather?
