As my Magnaflow mufflers have been "broken in" over the past few days, a very intolerable drone is present till 2.5K revs.
I installed a 10425 and two 11225's in the stock SVT system. I assumed (wrongly) that with that reso I wouldn't encounter any serious drone issues. It sounds great above 2500, but till then its aweful! Highway speed is great, cruisin around town at 40-50mph is no good! (As a side note, what speed do you shift to 5th gear in...?)
I had another setup (previous SVT) with only a glasspack on the stock system (no cat either)- that setup droned bad AFTER about 3K. Why would this be the opposite?
Would I see an improvement (ie. drone reduction) by changing the reso for a magnapack or powerpack, or whatever magnaflow calls their glasspack?

The longer the resonator the less drone and volume.
Make sure it is a full bodied resonator.
Bullet styles reduce very little volume and moderate drone.

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

What makes it "full-bodied"? I installed a MagnaPack 10425: a 4" round 18" straight-through reso. This was the model that I saw repeated over and over as the one to get... should I swap it for a 6" round (would that fit)? Would a longer one be more benefitial than a bigger one? I could get a 6" that is 18" long, or a 4" that is 22" long (shell size)?

I had highway drone with the Magnaflow resonator and stock SVT mufflers. It drove me nuts to the point that I had to get rid of the exhaust. I bought a Borla catback. I am very happy with the sound now. Just a little louder than stock with a nice burble when you stift gears slowly. Only thing I'm not happy with is the muffler tips placement. They could be centered a little better, but my mechanic says that is the best he could do without hacking the system. They are every so slightly off, but I'm a perfectionist. I've learned to live with it.
I really do like my Borla though. If cost is a factor, you could look into a Truebendz system with a Borla muffler.

I have 10425 with stock svt mufflers in the back, I love the sound lol. I've had a quiet car for too long, ready for more! If you cant take it...turn up the radio

I've got a 2000 csvt with the mufflers removed and replaced with straight pipes. It sounds better - like a baby mustang - but since i have no mufflers i have no back pressure and once i let off the throttle the car goes silent.
I miss the cool backpressure sound the car had when it was stock but it just wasn't loud enough for me.I was thinking about replaceing the resonatior with the maganflow #10415 but after reading your post i desided against it.I'm planing on optimizing the y-pipe and putting some flowmaster race mufflers out back. these are smaller square shaped muflers about half the size of the stock svt muffler with a diamond shaped baffle inside them to restrict very little flow. hopefully they will give me a little backpressure sound as thats all i'm looking for.
