I have been advised by this forum to change the expansion valve in the AC when I change the compressor. I am ready to go this weekend, but I don't know the location of the valve. Help on this would be apreciated. Thanks.

if you have a contour you dont have an expansion valve... i dont think any fords use expansion valves anymore.. that give the refrigerant to cool in a car is the orifice... and its inside the liquid like going from the compressor to the evaporator coil.. whoever told you that then dont take anymore advise from them... what they might have said is when you change a compressor you always change the filter dryer(to make sure you dont damage the new compressors.. mater of fact most compressor manufactures require you to chang the filter dryer to keep the warranty on the compressor.......

However, you do have a expansion orfice tube. This is located in the a/c line up against the firewall on the passenger side. There is a coupling. Disconnect the coupling and you need to rent tool extractor. You insert the tool into the tube and extract the orfice tube out. This also has a filter in it that can become clogged. Not hard to replace, but you have to evacuate the system and recharge to do it.
