My CEL came on and when I ran the codes I got:

335 (O) EGR feedback signal is/was out of range
327 (O,R,M) EGR feedback signal is/was low
332 (R,M) EGR did not open/respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittantly

I checked the EGR valve with a Vac pump and it held fine and all the vacuum lines are intact and connected. But when I connected the Vac pump to the EGR Solenoid Valve (key off/engine stopped) it passed vacuum through it, or in other words was "open". Is this normal? I would assume it would be "closed" until voltage was applied. Now here is the part where I may have messed up. I removed the EGR Solenoid Valve and connected a pair of jumper wires to a 12v source. Got a huge arc, so either the solenoid windings are shorted or I just fried it.

HELP !!

Nope, I don't think so. It should be closed at idle and at KOEO.

Messed up is right. The EVR solenoid runs on a 150hz signal from the PCM. You can't hookup 12 VDC directly or you may cause damage to the solenoid.

Well I guess I fried it. I put it back in, cleared the codes and went for a drive and now it's throwing:

335 (O) EGR feedback signal is/was out of range
and
558 (O) EGR vacuum regulator solenoid/circuit failure

So, now I know the EGR/VRS is toast but what started the EGR problem ? Could the differential switch be bad? Where is it and can it be tested ?

Oh yeah, did you know that if you don't put the speedo cable back under the MAF that it will eat itself ?

The DPFE is a constant problem. If you want to save all the the hassle, buy an new DPFE sensor and EVR solenoid and install both at the same time. Then clear the codes from the PCM. If you still have problems after that, then replace the valve.

Well, I lowballed it and got a used DPFE and put my old EGR/VR back on it and wonder of wonders it fixed it .
