My CEL came on and when I ran the codes I got:

335 (O) EGR feedback signal is/was out of range
327 (O,R,M) EGR feedback signal is/was low
332 (R,M) EGR did not open/respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittantly

I checked the EGR valve with a Vac pump and it held fine and all the vacuum lines are intact and connected. But when I connected the Vac pump to the EGR Solenoid Valve (key off/engine stopped) it passed vacuum through it, or in other words was "open". Is this normal? I would assume it would be "closed" until voltage was applied. Now here is the part where I may have messed up. I removed the EGR Solenoid Valve and connected a pair of jumper wires to a 12v source. Got a huge arc, so either the solenoid windings are shorted or I just fried it.

HELP !!

If by the above heading you mean the black, round top, plastic EVR (EGR Vacuum Regulator) solenoid, then you may have. It has an internal diode that does not tolerate reverse polarity, sorry.

Well I guess I fried it. I put it back in, cleared the codes and went for a drive and now it's throwing:

335 (O) EGR feedback signal is/was out of range
and
558 (O) EGR vacuum regulator solenoid/circuit failure

So, now I know the EGR/VRS is toast but what started the EGR problem ? Could the differential switch be bad? Where is it and can it be tested ?

Oh yeah, did you know that if you don't put the speedo cable back under the MAF that it will eat itself ?

335 (O) EGR feedback signal is/was out of range
327 (O,R,M) EGR feedback signal is/was low

These originate at the DPFE. If the hoses to the EGR tube are still connected, check the EGR tube for holes. The DPFE may just be bad.
