i own a 98 2.5 mtx (non-svt)..
sometimes my accelerations are hesitant at 4000-6500rpm..but most of the time the power loss hits at 5000rpm

i did a search and came up with 3 possible scenarios..

1- the IMRC cable has been damaged by the water pump pulley
2- the fuel pump isnt working properly
3- the secondaries are dirty and are sticky.

my car only has about 70000 miles on it..

i checked the imrc cable and it looks fine...
so if anyone can help me please do!

thank you^^

Welcome to CEG. On the main page, there's a FAQ & a bunch of how-tos listed. Scroll down to the maintenance section and have at it.

easy way to check if the secondaries are working. need 2 people, you and a friend. have you friend sit in the car with it running in neutral(of course). you will need to be looking at something under the hood. where you want to look is under the tb for a silver rod looking thing, a PCV tube should be near it that is what you want to watch. now watch that and tell you friend to(important part) floor it untill it revs to about 4500 or so. when they do this the rod should move and that will mean your secondaries are opening, does not guarntee that they open well, but they are opening. to do a better check of them im me for more info @ jackelcrazy or drop me a pm

Quick question, is this the same for the '95s (which apparantly use a different way to open the secondaries)?

thanks for the info guys...

I heard the 95's use a vacuum system for the secondaries
as for the 98+ its a electronic system..

i checked with a friend like you said and my secondaries are definitly opening but they are definitly crusty^^

the problem is I just changed the plugs thinking that they were the problem... Is it that bad for my plugs if i clean TB. uim and lim chemicaly???
