I am having trouble unlocking the driver's side door with my key. It has been getting worse. I used to be able to jiggle my key in and out and get the key to catch but no more. The lock cylinder seems to slide a touch when I insert the key.
A) is there a fix for this to prevent the sliding?
B) Can I swap the pass. side lock with the driver's side?
I have a 97 Contout with power locks (but not remote unlocking).
Thanks.

The lock cylinder is either worn out or broken.
Answer your second question...all the lock cylinders are
the same...so yes you could swap it over. What good would that do though? Your still left with one bad lock...I would remove the bad one first...maybe something has come off like the inner clip? I don't understand what you mean by slipping? Do you mean the cylinder itself is moving in and out? There is a spring loaded clip inside the door that holds the lock in place and maybe it has fallen off and would be inside the door on the bottom, you could check that when you remove the panel.

By slipping I mean the cylinder seems to slide in and out slightly when I push the key in or out.
I figure since 99.9% of the time I open the driver's side first, I'd rather have the busted lock on the right side.
Thanks for the reply. I'll look for a slipped clip when I pull the panel.
