I just got through a struggle with the CEL on my 1995
Contour GL. Intermittent code 172. The first thing I tried
was replacing the O2 sensor. No luck - still got code.
Well- to make a long story short. It turned out to be the
water temp sending unit. Kept giving wacky readings and
drove the gauge crazy. My guess is it also freaked out the
computer which calculated some weird mixture instructions
to the injectors. All seems better now. Also got a
180 degree thermostat.
So now I have the old O2 sensor which I assume is still
good. Can anybody out there use it? I have no way of
telling how many miles is on it but the car has 109,000.
The sensor is a FORD unit, part number 94BB-9F472-DA,
made by NTK - Japan. 4-wire hookup with connector.
Here's the deal. Please the following carefully. The

gets the sensor. All I would like is $5 to cover shipping
