Okay I have been having problems with latching the hood on my 99 tour like when i go to close it, it wont close. Before I just moved the metal peice the is pulled by the cable to open the hood back to its up right postion. But i try that tonight and it wont work, the hood stays like it is when I just pull the lever in the inside of the car. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any way to fix it?

Possibly your hood lock/latch itself is off.

Remove the front oval/grille
Hood lock/latch is held in place by three 10mm (IIRC) nuts
Loosen them and move lock/latch up a little bit
Tighten them back down
Test
Repeat if necessary

Hope this works for you...

You can barely adjust the latch and it's hard to do because of position of the nuts but it's possible you could move it just enough to make it latch. I wish the latch would be more adjustable.

Okay I fixed it after looking at it more closely with a flash light. It was the latch that is connected to the cable that opens the hood that was bent in, so I just bent it back a little moved it back into the upright postion and closed it. Not a perniment fix but at least I dont have to worry about it any more. I think I need to replace or tightent the sping on the latch that is connected to the cable it doesnt seem to let the latch return.

(sorry im not real good with details)

try cleaning the old grease off the part, underside also.. use some WD-40 to spray on it and the old grease will loosens up... then work it back an forth a few times and you are ready to go...you might then want to put some new lithium grease( white grease) on it to keep it moving...
rememberr WD-40 is not a lubricant, it cuts grease, will thin it do you are really using the old grease again... its the dirt that the grease picks up that is causing the part not to move like it did when new.... clean off the dirt with some rubbing alcohol and relube.
