I CURRENTLY have the SAME EXACT problem.

I was too lazy to post here on CEG, even though its been getting worse and worse.

Okay... my problem started with misfiring (it gave me a CEL).

I then bought new FRPP wires and plugs.

Misfire / hesitation went away.

Few months ago I washed and OILED the K&N filter... and at the saem time cleaned MAF.

Okay.. everything was normal.

Few months later (NOW) i've been having the hesitation problem again... and like you precisely explained it feels like no fule is being injected therefore i thought about FUEL FILTER + FUEL PUMP.

Of course... simple things first and i changed fuel filter.

Didnt help.

Talking to some Zetec guys online and they said MAF... but that didnt make too much sense at first... for i just cleaned it 6 months ago....

BUT... since i re-oiled the K&N recently... i think new oil went to the MAF...

I am HOPING thats all i have to do.... this saturday i am cleaning the MAF... again....

If that doenst work... I'll try fuel pump... cause it DOES SEEM like no fuel is being injected.

Another possibility i was thinking about was the coil.

If that is correct (which I hope it is) I have no aging fuel pump... CAUSE my hesitation is at low RPMs and it happens with any tank level not only when it is emnpty.

also... car runs absolutely normal (at least feels like) on hi-rpms.

Yup, that what I thought - when re-oiling some of the oil might have stuck in the MAF. well, that's what I once read in Lance's suggestions.

Son's_mechanic: I believe I drove more carb cars in my life than you. I first drove an enjector fueled car when I was 32 or something.

To clean the MAF I use some Electrical cleaner.

It works fine in my case.

Hopefully it is not damaging the MAf in the long term.

From what I gathered here (it was posted by ButtonPuncher I guess) I would say that the best way would be not to use any electrical contact no-residue cleaner - but to use a medical grade alcohol and these really thin pipe cleaners - like chenille ones:

U might also read Lance's guidelines here

I've been fine with just using an aerosol non-residue electrical parts cleaner.

im kind of having the same problem as him, but mine seems to be slightly different, my CEL isnt on as well. The engine hesitates and bucks when trying to accelerate at a lower RPM but tends to go away as the engine gains speed. Im going to try Power cleaning my fuel injector, with 95K miles that 95 tour may need it as well. I might attempt the PCV valve as well. Its supposed to be easy, as well as cheap to do. So couldnt hurt anything.
