Hey guys,
I posted a few days ago about a charging problem with my 95 Mystique with a Duratech. The battery light was on and I was diagnosed with a bad alternator and a bad battery. I changed them both and the light was still on. I checked the Megafuse, and it's fine (i used a voltmeter and it showed that there was 0 resistance from one end to the other).
HELP!!

You may want to have the Alternator checked again. I'm not sure how you checked it the first time to determine both the battery and Alternator were bad. Autozone usually checks your charging system for free.
Its not common, but the Alternator could have been bad before you installed it. Have it checked to eliminate that as a possibility.

I initially installed the alternator and found the light to be on. So, i took it back off and had it bench tested. It was putting out right at 14. So i put it back on and it's not charging.
Thanks for the help, keep it coming!!

Sounds like a loose or bad/disconnected alternator wire somewhere. Get under there & track down any wires that are not connected, re-secure any ground wires that may be suspect, and double check that the connector on the alternator is snugly in place & properly secure.
I had a shop install a new alt for me some months ago & they lost a retaining wire for the main connector of the alternator. The connector worked loose a few days after the repair & the alternator stopped charging. Additionally, the alt got fried when the plug worked loose. I installed the free replacement myself & grabbed a retaining wire from a BMW connector to replace the one on my car. No problems since.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Did you check the ground-straps?
Normally I use a meter to check battery negative to the alternator output. if that is OK, move to the megafuse, then the starter.

The car starts fine and runs fine, but its solely running off the battery. I have yet had problems starting it, but i have been charging the battery with a charger.
How is the starter related to the charging system?
Thanks, Joe

UPDATE:
I take the car to the dealership and have them check it out, since they just did the wire harness recall. They say that its only putting out 12.28....i knew that. They also say that the alternator is bad after checking the wiring and the grounds. The thing is that I just changed the alternator and tested it twice (once after the initial install and then i took it out and retested it on a bench test). So the dealership says that they need to get in there to be able to further test/inspect. I said they could as long as if the alternator is good, they don't charge me for any of it.
I think that this is a fair deal. Comments/suggestions?

i will take that bet that you are never gonna get a dealership to work on your car for nothing.......... if they think its the alternator then they will replace it and maybe later found out that they screwed up and forgot to connect something and then that that mystery wire back and then tell you yes its the alternator....and who is gonna prove them wrong and even if you do then who you gonna complain to??? Ford, they dont care about the work of a dealership... as long as the delealer does the warranty work that ford has to do to cover its a$$ thats all they will do is take car of the warranty stuff.... the alternator does not have anyting to do with the warranty.. the bad wiring harness is like mine.. the a/c unit blew due to wires shorting out on the high pressure cut off switch... No they would not cover it... i had to do it myself and make sure it was done correctly... i then used some liquid tape, a liquid plast/rubber that you paint on the wires to keep them insulated.... i hope i never have to bring this car into ford to have the harness replaced.. the mechanics dont get enough time to do the job correctly and ford pays for about Six hours of labor for this 12 hour job........ most mechanics dont want to do it as they loose money doing the job....
