I bought my SVT a couple months ago. It has been the best car I've ever owned and wanted to put some money into it. I am considering putting a supercharger into it. The only thing is I know nothing about it. So I was hoping I could get some help/advise from you who are more experienced.
1) Besides buying the supercharger, probably the Vortech, what else do I have to buy? (The car is pretty much stock besides a cold air intake, so I don't know about new clutch, computer chips, MAF, etc.)
2) What other mods will have to be done? Do I have to relocate the battery, new hood?
3) What is the best way to get this installed? I live in Canton, MI, just curious if there is a good place to take it for the install. And, ballpark, how much is the install?
4) Lastly what would be the best supercharger to buy? I have really only seen the Vortech kit.
Sorry to be a novice, but I appreciate any info/help I can get.

Vortec is the only one available. Everything you need should be included except the engine management. There are several tuners in Michigan who can tune it for you but expect to pay an additional $400 or so. The battery most certainly will need to be relocated.
There have been some reliability issues with that unit so please do a search on it using words like 'jackshaft' 'splines' and 'failure'.

Get a turbo from streetflight.com instead. More complete, better results, and better service.
I offer PnP Heads for all durtec's details at PnPheads.com or jesse@pnpheads.com for details.

If you don't mind, why would I want the Turbo over the Supercharger or vise versa?

Bottom line is the Street Flight kit is MUCH more reliable than the vortech kit and has shown to produce more power, mainly across the whole powerband. FULL boost is made at about 2900 rpm's with the standard T-28 Street Flight kit while full boost with the Vortech is made near redline. Because of the T-28 turbo, turbo lag is pretty much non existant from what i hear. The Street Flight kit does carry a bigger price tag but that gets you custom fabbed stainless steel headers, downpipe, Street Flight chip, intercooler, and no headache of wondering if the kit is going to break.
DemonSVT does a good comparison of the 2 kits in the thread that Todd posted for you. That puts the two into perspective.

The Street Flight kit comes with the headers too? Would those be similar headers as to what is shown in the mods section.?

I think you need a little bit more of a education on things before you do anything to your car.... Originally posted by ReynoldSVT: The Street Flight kit comes with the headers too? Would those be similar headers as to what is shown in the mods section.?
