For that kind of money, your going to not get anything newer than a 1998-9, and if it is, it is beat to heck like a taxi cab.

Any suggestions/warnings about those cars, especially with the Chrysler/Dodge one because I've never owned those makes.

Thanks.

They are not even in the same hemi-sphere as the Contour platform.

If I were trading my SVT in the short list would be:

Infiniti G35 6-speed (AWD maybe??? )

Mazda 6 5-speed (Mazda Speed version???)

Maybe even the new 05 Subaru Legacy GT (2.5L turbo, AWD, & 5-speed)

Also all three come in a 5-door Estate for the wagon lovers. (Our next car will probably be one. )

Definitely not a slush driven couch like the Taurus or the something similiar.

NOt for $2500-3500!

Peeople assume that their car is worth more than real world prices, and that they can get a late model used car dirt cheap.

I'm with Demon. For a "worthy successor," you're going to pay more than $2500. (Unless he has a 95 GL Zetec auto. Then he could probably find an early Contour SE MTX.)

Otherwise, try to find a good 1990 Audi 90, Saab 900, 1991 Maxima SE, or 1994 240SX (if you can swing life in a coupe.)

One word: eBay

How about an opinion about the Taurus or Sebring?

Every "bargain" I find on ebay turns out to be a bent or salvaged vehicle. You'll almost always end up paying around market value for a car in good condition with clean title.
