What would I need to support a Turbo on my 96 GL Zetec with the CD4E transaxel.
Shiftkit, and limited slip im thinking, External cooler (big), External oil filter. Plus any parts that can be upgraded, I will.
Im getting my CD4E rebuilt, and im going to go junkyarding for manifolds etc. My friend has a tig welder and is willing to help.
Im going to attempt the first Turbo Automatic Zetec(to my knowlege). I shall dub it TAZ.
Im going to get my tranny rebuilt while im in bootcamp, when I figure out where im stationed, Im going to rebuild the engine with the free garges on the Air Force bases.
And junkyard.. a lot for spair parts.. Everything will be custom.
Currently my motor has 63,845 miles.. In prime shape for the mileage...
The Engine will recieve, metal impeller waterpump, Cams, new rods, new vavles & springs, High temp gaskets, High Compression pistons, Im going to have the engine bored and sleeved. New oil pump (just incase)
Then im purchasing a T3-T40E Turbonetics Hybrid turbocharger.
Ill use a junkyard for innercooler, and all the extras that I will be making the custom parts from, my only concern is the Transmission..
Is it possible?
Or should I just fix my GL, and get a SE to tinker with. Money will not be a issue.
Just getting opinions...

The way I look at it, I can salvage all the parts, and even a turbo, raplace the bearings, and clean it..
Since ill be in the Air Force, I bet I could make some friends with car people, (since i love cars, and im sure many others will) and have them lend a hand on the fabrication. I mean.. 800 - 1 g for all the turbo parts.. and I could probally get away with 5 psi on the stock engine without a problem..
Im just wondering..
Im thinking I would do best to get my 96 fixed, drive it into the ground, wait till im out (4 years), and get a SVT when it deprecieates to an all time low, and then do it.
When ppl start realizing that the SVT was actually schweet, then I would have a pimp 1, just like yall..

Invest the money, buy Nortel Networks stock or sup'm like that. When you finish your stint, grab the cash & buy a 3 series convertable or a Lightning, brand new off the showroom floor and have enough left to pay the taxes on your windfall.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

But I want a SVT so badly..
They are so atractive... Iv wanted the SVT contour since iv owned my gl.. (5 years)
Oh well.. i guess ill rebuild my tranny, if im stationed at a decent area.. and ill save money, and see that the future brings..
more suggestions though?

Dont you think the T3T04E is a bit overkill for the little zetec? Talk about some boost lag. Keyser said that the T3/T4 on his 2.5L svt makes full boost at 4,000 rpm's. Because of your smaller displacement engine, will only increase the boost lag.

Oh, by the way, the "garages on the Air Force bases" aren't free. The Auto Hobby Shop is the place you need to go if you and friends are doing the work, but they charge a per day fee for the bays. I am not sure how much. I think every base is different but it's still cheap. Just letting you know that so there are no surprises when you go to do this.
