Hi everyone I'm new here but not new in forums about cars. I'm still a member of FordFestiva.com. Since my festy's dead I'm in the progress of finding a new car. I will know tonight if it will be a Contour '98 SE Sport, depending of the price the dealer will ask for.

Today I was searching the net for new tires because the tires on the car are winter tires. The problem I've got so far is that I want the largest tire size that will fit on the car. I was wondering if any of you tried 245/45/16? Because it is exactly the same height than the original. I looked on Miata.net size calculator but it does tell you if there will be rubbing when turning.

Thanx

I am just curious why you want the largest possible tire size.

A 245 is not needed for any non FI'd contour. Buckshot runs 245 on his, though he has like 500hp or something, so he sorta needs the tires to be as wide as possible. A tire that wide will lower your gas mileage and WILL rub.

Did the SE even come with 16's? Plus, on SVT rims, there's no way you can get 245's around our 6.5 wide rim. Are you running aftermarket wheels?

Have you even tried asking a professional or are you just going to ghetto your car up without checking if it will cause you problems?

I don't know if the SE came with 16's but the one I'll buy come with 16's.

And no I won't ghetto it. I'll ask a pro before anything. And you have a point about the rim being just 6.5 inch width. Anyway, if it doesn't fit it'll be 225/50/16.

Thanx everyone

buckshot has 245 but not on stock wheels and he mounted them himself cuz no shop would do it (liability reasons).
