A friend of mine has a Type-S with just an intake, and it's not very fast. The SVT's that I've messed around with seem to give me a better run than he does. Then again, he claims that with I/H/E and an ECU reflash his car is capable of running high 13s

I plan on installing MSDS Headers, Trubendz Cat-Back, Optimized Throttle Body, and a MAF Adaptor w/ K&N filter. I would like to know your opinions on if I will stand a chance in a race after all these mods with equal drivers? Also is there any other mods that are worth getting, aside from going 3.0L or installing a turbo kit. Thanks!!

you guys kill me with the if i did this and i did that would i win in a race.... no one knows until you actually race. unless you are just making sure you wouldn't get embarassed

3L SVT will own the RSX that you have described. after i wrecked my 1st 'tour, i bought an SVT and proceded to swap a 3L in. 3L, intake, heatshield, and a dual exhaust was all i needed to silence one of my coworkers with an RSX with ease.

Well like I said, gearing is more important. And I won't deny that honda knows how to gear for accelleration pretty well. My mom has a civic and it'll get off the line decent but it's slow once you get moving.

6 speed or not the SVT is geared pretty well. From what I remember its got something like a 4.03 or 4.08 final drive. You can tell the trans was specifically deisigned to match the cars power, unlike a lot of other cars out there whos gearing is made just to get good 0-60 times and quarter mile times. Cars like the Celica GT-S actually fall out of lift on the 1-2 shift because second gear is made just tall enough to hit 60 in second. Our cars are geared to make the most of the power we've got. In our case, we get sort of screwed when it comes to 0-60 and quarter mile times. Second gear redlines at 56, making a 2-3 necessary (or a little run into redline), and third tops out before the quarter mile mark so you need to use 4th, where as a lot of cars can pull through the traps in 3rd. But hey, at least we dont drop out of our secondaries on the 1-2 shift!

As far as the RSX goes... Acura knew what it was doing. Light weight+high revs+lots of top end+ short gearing=SVT defeat 6 speed or not

A friend of mine has a RSX-S with the AEM CAI, Hondata reflash, and Hondata plastic manifold gasket and his best is a 14.3@99mph. He ran that down in Nashville and we never got to run at my track in Kansas City. He's not one to lie either plus I've seen the slips and have seen videos of him doing 14.3-14.4@98mph+. I've driven the car and honestly it doesn't feel very quick, but the slips/video don't lie. Anyways, judging performance from the seat of the pants is worthless. My 94 Z28 felt a lot stronger than the 99 Z28 I drove, but at the track the LS1 was about .3 and 2mph faster than my LT1. Going 13s in the RSX-S with the mods you listed is pretty common assuming you use DRs. Those cars require a 5000-6000rpm launch and street tires can't handle that.

Yeah, I'd think a lotta people would be surprise what some of these new 4 cyl cars can do such as the rsx and sentra se-r. I've heard of both cars with DRs, header, intake, and the other common bolt-ons getting into the 13s.

I think alot of it has to do with the stuff that's available. I'm sure if more people were into "pimping out" Contours, it'd be ALOT easier to make our cars faster. Unfortunately, there aren't alot of people, so we lose.
