A friend of mine just bought a 2003 Acura RSX-S w/ intake and a cat-back exhaust. I currently own a 1998.5 CSVT w/ Spec Stage 2 Clutch, Fidenza Flywheel, Quaife LSD, and a B&M Shifter. I plan on installing MSDS Headers, Trubendz Cat-Back, Optimized Throttle Body, and a MAF Adaptor w/ K&N filter. I would like to know your opinions on if I will stand a chance in a race after all these mods with equal drivers? Also is there any other mods that are worth getting, aside from going 3.0L or installing a turbo kit. Thanks!!

If all of your mods are installed, it sounds to me lik3 you should have him.

I read in a few magazines (reminder most magazines over doo there stats) that a Cold air kit alone on the RSX-S netted anywhere between 7 and 15 hp to the wheels, depending on the brand....a rsx with exahust too....i don;t know how much more it would be....i do remember though that the Cold Air only netted at most 7lb of torque.

These cars are no slouches by any means....yes they don;t have as much torque that the duratec makes, but they make up with it by being a little lighter.

what i do know is that at SAC raceway, i lost to an RSX.

I had (my 2.5 liter) intake, heatshield, exahust, quaife, Spec 2 clutch...all he had was intake and exahust.

my car compared to his was a drivers race...and he obviously was a better driver.

Id say race him, and see what happens, and let usknow the outcome.

In all honesty, he should take you almost easily. The RSX-Ss are quick little buggers, ESPECIALLY with an intake. I also have heard that an intake nets up to 20hp on those K motors.

there was a type s at the track running mid 15's @90mph all day long.

if the driver doesn't know how to launch them properly. Then you'll win.

It sounds like that driver didn't know how to drive. With a 90mph trap speed you should be at least at a 15.0 if not a tad bit lower. I think the RXS-S will have the advantage in the race the post was about, assuming he can drive. I'd assume he would have to be a pretty bad driver to lose, though. If the guy with the RSX-S would get the Hondata on top of the exhaust and intake it would be all over from the start on a N/A 2.5L.

I think there is another thread exactally like this one further down (mabee way down, I didn't find it yet). The type S is defanately not to be messed with, even in stock fourm. The stock times on this light car I believe are 14.8's or lower.

Yea i agree the rsx type-s ain't nothing to mess with
there deadly fast . i test drove a 02 rsx-type-s the seats
were cool , the gauges were a little to red and the interior seamed to small. but on the freeway above 6,000
rpm the car pulled like crazy. 60-90 mph seamed to fly by in a matter of moments i was impressed.

I'd stay away from modded rsx type-s's their sub 15 second
cars stock. my 2000 csvt runs a 15.8 in atlanta with a 3,000 rpm launch stock. the rsx type s run 15.0 all day long stock. You'll need hell mods, a 3.0L swap, turbo, vortech , or nitrous to beat a modded rsx type-s.

Did i forget to mention the type-s has a six speed ?

You should lose. Guy in town has a mildly modded rsx type s (intake, header, exhaust, maybe a few more things) and it's only a bit slower than my friend's stock srt4.

Yeah that six speed can put them in a sweet spot that we can never touch.

3k launches...
