When I accelerate lightly, my car feels like it's wobbling side to side???? The wobble is enough to make my center console (armrest area) vibrate. Don't know if I'm encountering some sort of resonance frequency or something. What components help keep the car from moving side to side?

Make sure your lug nuts are tight!

Wheel weights fall off?

But first check those lug nuts...

I check them almost weekly, torque to about 90 ft-lb. They're almost always tight when I check them (may be a couple of ft-lbs off). I've had this problem for a while now, different sets of tires w/ multiple balancings. I'm not sure if this is related, but when I accelerate while going over a knoll I get a bad vibration through the whole car, but not in the steering wheel????

My most recent mount/balance included a road force balance. The worst wheel/tire was about 17 lbs unbalanced weight, which is apparently well within spec. Would this technique identify a warped rim? Maybe I should track down a local CEG'r and do a 4 wheel swap just to be sure. Thanks for the suggestion.

I had a warped rim on another car that could not be balanced ...

The symptoms are heavy shaking past a certain speed ...

if yours is lightly warped, you may be able to balance it but still get some shaking.

The technician that balances the tire should be able to tell if the wheel is warped.

I just reread your initial post ...

Have you had your alignment check lately ? Your toe adjustment could be off. Is the car going straight when you let go the steering wheel ?

Yeah, the car goes nice and straight on the hiway. Smooth as glass too with the road force balance. Only seems to be an issue when I accelerate (the worst when I turn + accelerate).
