Should i use a 2 amp set up for my speakers and sub(s) or not. I was thinking of just getting a 5-6 channel?to run all my speakers and a sub. That would be the easiest right?

Man I would run two amps
because can bridge them and get more watts
from you amps.

Yes it would be easier. Its also easier to wire up, since you dont need stuff like distribution blocks, ground blocks, etc for multiple amp setups. Most 5-6 channel amps are bridgeable, too. Ive always had 1 or 2 amps because I couldnt afford the $$ to buy one big 5-6 channel amp at once.

Depends on your budget.

Quality 5-6 channel amps can be steep. I personally run two. 200w Kenwood to doors and 250w MTX to the sub. Total cost about $350. I set the amp for my doors to high pass and the sub amp to low pass, very clean at high volumes.

A friend of mine had a 5 channel amp that was like 1000w (probably about 600rms). Don't know how much he paid but it started acting up after a couple months, would shutdown after about a half hour. In his case the two amp set up would probably have lasted longer than the one because he was pushing it at capacity all the time.

I hate to be the correctional officer here... but... 1200 watt 6x9's?

Boss amp? Putting out 3000 watts? Highly unlikely, even using 'PEAK' measurements.

I have (2) Hifonics Boltar amps rated:
225 x 2 @ 4 ohm rms
425 x 2 @ 2 ohm rms
850 x 1 @ 4 ohm rms (mono bridged)
900 x 1 @ 2 ohm rms (mono bridged)

What model Boss amp is this putting out 3000 watts?

Thw hifonics Colossus only does:
2400 x 1 @ 2 ohms rms (mono bridged)

confused

If you have your system cranked up alot and your music has alot of base like rap music, get 2 or 3 amps. If your a coservative old fart like me and listen to classic rock, get a 5 or 6 channel amp. I got a alpine F356, I think, and it works great for me.

6-channel amps will work great in most cases but if you are looking for some huge booming bass, go for 2 amps. Generally, the seperate power supplies will help.

I agree with Wrecka about the boss amps. The ratings are largely meaningless.
