i just put a new amp in and when the radios on there is static on the front speakers, but not when a cds on.

I ran 12 gauge wire to the front door speakers, and i fished around a lil on the passenger side trying to find the damn hole, could i have accidentally damaged the antennae wire ? or is it something to do with the ground wire?

first thing I would do is check to see if the radio antanae wire is still completely plugged into the deck. That should solve it, seeing as you only hear it on Radio mode. Go from there.

Definately check your ant. wire connections first. However, don't forget that Radio is inherently noisy, especially with poor reception. Maybe you're talking about a different type of static though, not sure. Good Luck. laugh

Know what, I just saw some sort of connection behind the passenfer side kick plate, and it looked like it was for the antenna. The cable goes up and down, but the connecters were on a 45 degree angle. And it was pretty easy to disconnect.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about but I don't think that junction has any function. Only benefit would be being able to replace PART of the antenna versus the WHOLE cable.

Is tht connection for the antenna ? If so it's possible he accidently disconnected it. I noticed theres no clips or anything therefore it's very easy just to tap the cable to loosen the connection.

Did that make any sense? It's too early for me. smile

Hey I just checked that out, along with the head unit connection. Both seemed to be fine but may have been a little loose?....I haven't had a chance to go out yet today so we'll see if that fixed it.

You may also want to check you connections at the base of the antenna itself. If the base or base ground wire comes loose, some static can entire the reception as well.

OK static is STILL there when i turn my volume up. I check the antennae base (checked the big wire, but where are the ground wires?)and the radio stations came in crystal clear before I put my new amp in.......any more ideas?

confused
