This may be a silly question but what the heck.

I've been debating on getting the trubenz set up with mag's

but I hoestly dont know if there will be that much of a difference in hp vs putting to mag's on the stock piping.

does going to a 2.5" set up make that much of a difference for the money?

Probably about 3FWHP on a moderately modified SVT over just replacing the stock resonator and rear mufflers with straight through.

The 2.25" single is a restriction especially in the upper rpm (above 5k)

Cost analysis.

2 mufflers and a resonator is ~$150. Probably $250 installed???

Trubendz is $400 IIRC. Install it yourself. Maybe $50 to have a shop weld it up once you install it. (clamps SUCK!)

Even though this shows how cost effective modifying the stock exhaust is if you plan more mods or "significant" mods then the 2.5" is the way to go.

I only recommend duals to those that can build their own.

I'd imagine for a shop to build a good setup (Mandrels and straight throughs) it would be over $1000 and you'd have to either find a shop that is highly skilled and trustworthy or watch them like a hawk. The later of which just won't happen.

thanks for the info and brake down. I guess the main question to myself is , how fast do I want to go? I guess mid 14's would be fine . Well soon as I fgure out what I have to do to get mid 14's I will still be in debate...

thanks again demon

Mid 14s? Do research on wheel hop and limited slip differentials (quaife, torsen). Headers are a must for that too. And maybe more. Unless you get used, subsidized, and/or fantastic deals and/or can do specialty work yourself, you're OVER $1,000 in parts and another $1,000 in labor right there.

MSDS, SHO-shop Y, custom 2.5" catback; xcal2; 63mm TB, K&N 3530; Koni struts, Aussie bar; THaines forks, Quaife, SpecII, UR fly; DMD; Nima UD pullies; Stazi brakes; f&r Pole120 mounts. Just a daily commuter car. Silver '98 SVT E0 #3159
