If you want to go cheap why don't you just buy a coil for your crossover? I know it is only a 6db cutoff, but they work fine.

They are extremely expensive if you want to get anything 100 hz and under. It's much more cost effective to go electronic. Unless you get a really cheap inductor.

I haven't purchased a coil in about five years, but local shops sold them for around $15 for most applications down to 50 Hz.

Check out parts express . They sell iron core inductors 10mH for about $15. That will get a 4 ohm woofer down to about 65 Hz. They also sell air cores for $25. They have 15mH coils as well.

Thanks! That pretty much verifies my comments! 25-50 for a 1st order crossover is a little pricey when you can pay a little more and get a higher order crossover and in most cases a configurable design.
