WHAT?! The Countour's turning radius is HORRIBLE! You're saying the Mazda 6 is even worse? Ick!
That's what I'm saying. My '95LX definite turns tighter than our 6. I even forgot which one I was driving one night, and in the 6 brushed my Contour's turning into my parking space. I was PISSED.

BRUSHED, DAMMIT...not hit.
OK...yes. I did. Oh well, at least I have only myself to blame.

Well... The 6s 5door I bought would have stickered at $26,880 (see officially insane thread for equipment list). I paid $23,600 including options, accessories and destination, a dealer trade fee (they had to go 300 miles away to get the car I wanted), and the $1500 cash back.
Note... based on the accessories as factory options, this is about $600 over dealer invoice.
Tax, title, license, custom plates, extended warranty, and protection packages are additional.
Pics coming shortly!
I have not noticed the turning radius issue... but Consumer Reports also mentions it (41 feet as they measured).

yes i agree, the turning radius could be better, but my contour was essentially the same - i think it was 39-40 ft radius vs. the 6 - which is a bigger car (but not by much)
and as for trunk space, it's HUGE!

Ryelou, also note there is a College Grad Rebate worth $400 I think. Dunno if you qualify for that or not.

College grad rebate is $500, and is good if you graduated within the last two years or are within 2 years of graduation (junior or senior).
There were also grad school rules... but don't recall them.
The car is basically 3" longer than the Contour, and the trunk is huge.

Like many others here, I moved on to a Mazda 6. I was going to wait until this spring, but the exact one I wanted showed up in VT dealer stock last October and I couldn't resist. I got S-plan, which is as good as I could have hoped for up here given that they sell maybe a few dozen V6/5-speed MZ6 in the whole state per year. So my $25,600 stickered 6s was gotten at $23,200... and in a metro area, you can probably easily do a grand or two better than that right now. Mine came w/sport package, luxury package, Bose stereo, moonroof and the sport grille. I added the compass/dim mirror and so far have a 500W stereo pumping components up front and a 12" sub, keeping the factory head unit (too big a job to replace it and you lose the integrated dash display) but I'm probably going to add another amp and put new speakers in back somewhere as well. Sure, I'd like 18s and to drop it a little, but I'm not in any hurry - maybe next summer. I love my 6 with all of 1400 miles on it, and my complaints are few - one being the turning radius, but there's plenty of room to go around things in VT the rest are mostly nitpicks. You'd be very hard-pressed to find a nicer car for the money. Here's mine: a few more images at: http://users.adelphia.net/~ptampas/mazda Happy Motoring, -Peter

I didn't know you could get that if you were within 2 years of graduation. I would qualify for that then. I might call the Mazda dealership in a bit and see what kind of incentives they have around me. I didn't see anything in the papers here this weekend and they didn't have any signs or writing on their cars in their lot, but we'll see.
