I am sure that this has been posted before but I couldn't find it. I would like a heat shield for my intake. Is it easyer to make one or buy one. I have a CTA intake I was wondering if this would help. It is for a weapon R intake(which I know is a poor CAI) but the heat shield might realy help.

I was also thinking of installing a fan at the bottom of the hole in the finder to increase the flow of air from under the car.

I would like your input.

The Weapon-R cold air box is aluminum.
So all it is, is a mini oven under your hood.
Won't help.
Cheap thing to do, buy a rubbermaid trash can and cut it to fit around your filter, then route some hosing from the filter to the fenderwell.
Search and you'll find lots on homemade heatshields.
Electric fans do not pressurize the air enough to be of any use, even trying to route cooler air towards the filter is useless.

Cheapest and easiest thing to do is buy some foam board at a crafts store and cut pieces to put around the intake (between battery and strut tower, with MAF in the middle). It does get flimsy after a few months so you have to replace it. But one piece of $2 foam board will last you atleast a year. It works great, not pretty at all, but it works and is cheap.

My foam board lasted like three years, though I had to start reinforcing it with tape after a while. I still have the rest of the board I cut it out of, to make another one.

I just used the Duratec heatshield and trimmed it to fit on the Zetec.
