I'm about to change one of the front wheel bearings....Does anyone out there know of a machine shop that can help with pressing out and in a wheel bearing to the knuckle/hub assy in Greater Toronto Area, preferably around Mississauga? Or maybe I should just let the dealer do it (is it a beast-like job for DIY)? Thanks!

My mechanic in Richmond Hill replaced both front wheel bearings on my car. Charged far less than what the dealer would have.

It may be a beast like job depending on the state of the bearing. When the bearing goes bad it can create enough heat to sort of wedge itself into the hub. First of all, don't go to Midas because their bearings failed sooner than Ford's on my car. Second time around the mechanic at "Ziggy's Auto" ordered Ford bearings which have so far been on longer than Midas's. He also did the job for a very good price. I can't find the business card right now but it's located near Kipling and Lakeshore, I believe Tupper Ave. Check online and I'll post the phone # when I find it.

Thank you guys for the great info! Had the bearing done at Ziggy's this morning. Parts, labor, and taxes combined cost a little less than what Ford wanted for labor alone pre-tax!
