I'm a little surprised to see this post Demon, not what I expected from you at all. Most of us, including myself, have spent time on a DynoJet and its true the Mustang Dyno does infact dyno a bit lower due to how its set up, so thats why we ALL got the correction, 278 hp for Stazi, 254 for Scott Biggers turbo'd CSVT, 200 for a straight 3.0L hybrid and my 188 hp corrected. I don't think any of us are "pumping up our hp #'s", were just realizing our gains had we been on the dyno we're used to, thats all.

I agree....considering most of us who have dynoed used the Dynojet.

naw, demon is right. if we know better than to use the dynojet numbers why even use a corrected number. if someone wants to talk trash about the lower numbers get them to line up next to you at the track and show them what those numbers can do.

I think you misread my post or definitely it's intent.

It is a well known fact the Mustang dyno generates lower numbers.

My comment was about the operator saying to add "about" 10-15%

The other comment was just another re-stating that numbers between the two dyno types are not directly comparable.

No "close fudge" factor is going to generate accurate numbers directly comparable to a Dynojet.

Hence the entire statement that 171FWHP on a Mustang dyno is 171FWHP on a Mustang dyno.

188FWHP on a Dynojet is 188FWHP on a Dynojet.

That last time I was dyno'd my numbers were corrected DOWN. (.97 IIRC)
Guess I should have quoted the uncorrected numbers eh.

I agree with Demon completely.

I can't stress how important it is that you dyno on the SAME machine EVERY FREAKING time. A dyno is not something you use to generate numbers so you can jerk off to the highest number, a dyno is a tuning tool that allows you to gauge your gains/losses. Every single dyno reads differently and comparing your numbers to some other guys numbers 3 states away is meaningless. You cannot accurately gauge your car's power after running on three seperate dynos. The data is meaningless in my book.

With the sole exception of comparing it against the other cars there that same day of course.

I don't think any of who were there, myself included, were "jerking off" to anything all I know is this, I pulled a better hp # on the Mustang Dyno than I did on the dyno that measures it higher, thats all I'm sayin' and since the guy was giving us the "corrected" numbers, we ran with it. There IS going to be a trip to a local dyno with a a DynoJet and then we'll see. Its nice to see the support out there by our CEG-ers, raining on the parade as usual

Well we just speak the truth and if it hurts, so be it. The point Demon and I are making is that you can't be adding dyno correction factors and then claiming your car puts down said HP/TQ. Your car probably is making more power, but claiming your car is a ~190whp car when all it did was low 170s just doesn't make sense. If you do go to a Dynojet, make sure and use the same one you did the first time. Different Dynojets don't read the same. The decrepiency can be as high as 5-7%.
