So, this may have been going on forever and I might just have noticed it: the light in the front passenger footwell stays on at all times. Car parked, car running, whatever, it's on. I think I'm going to fall back on the basic fix - take it out - but was curious if anyone else has experienced this or has an idea of the cause. Thanks.

on the right side of the steering wheel there is a dial that controls the dash lighting level and also turns on the footwell lights. try checking that as it is easy to fit it by accident

I dont have this problem but I dont see anything to turn on the footwell lights, I see a dimmer thing for the lights behind the gauges but thats all, what thing are you talking about?
I have had this car for a while and never knew you could just turn on the footwell lights.

neither did I.. my rheostat (variable resistor, AKA the "Oreo" switch on the dash, does NOT control the footwell lights..

Are your intermittant wipers working? If they are out too the timer module may be dead? It works the floor lamps too.

that is exactly what i am talking about, atleast on my 99 csvt. rotating the knob adjusts the gauge lights. rotating the knob all the way to the right (i think) until it clicks turns on the footwell lights.

I had a similiar problem. I finally tracked it down to my 4 year old getting into my car and turning the dash light dimmer dial all the way over, which causes the interior lights to stay on. My dome light was apparently burnt out, so only the footwell lights were on.
