Common problem. My low speed fan has worked only once to my knowledge. Check fuses, resistors, wiring, etc.

and your needle gets high eh? Let the needle get around AL (on NORMAL) then watch the fan, when its around AL, the Snap-on Scanner tool at school says the engine is around 212 F° and then the fan will switch on by itself, its not overheating at 210 either...

That's the high speed fan though I believe. The low speed fan SHOULD kick on around 190. Which is about the RM on my gauge. 170-175 is about the 0 on my gauge which is what I usually run around.

Dunno kremit... The Snap-on scanner read 210 F, and then the Low speed fan = On, high Speed = Off
Teacher said thats normal too... So i dont worry anymore

The LOW speed fan comes on around 210-215. The HIGH speed fan is between 215 and 220. Neither are supposed to come on at 190 since the stock thermostat hasn't even opened at that temp.

Normal operating range is 195-210 or so. Can't seem to get that idea through the heads of some owners, though....

Well my low speed fan never turns on, and the best (average) running temp for a n/a engine is 180. I imagine the zetecs runs hotter to some how get better gas mileage.

my fan never cuts on by itself. the only way itll cut on is when i turn the a/c on. i turn the a/c on when the needle is at about AL of NORMAL. it looks like my low and high setting of the fan dont auto cut on. how many sensors are there to tell the fan to cut on (including both low and high speeds). i know where one temp sensor is, are there more than 1? thanks

My low speed didn't come on, always my high speed. So I finally got sick of hearing the high speed fan kicking in and I checked the realay, fuse and both were OK. It ended up being the resistor that's in the plastic shroud between the fans and the engine on the driver side lower left corner. Haven't heard the high speed fan since.

If that were true, the car would have come from the factory designed to run at 180.
