There doesn't seem to be many with this problem based on my searches.

Is my only option to replace the factory foam gasket that seals the taillight/reflector assembly to the trunk lid? I tried caulking around the front of the back up lights where the electric connectors are and sealed up any holes I found. Water still gets in. This is a pain because when I open the trunk, the water comes dribbling out onto my groceries.

I had the exact same problem on my '98 LS. There is a little hole in the bulb 'receptacle' that allows water to leak in from above.

I can't remember off hand how much you need to remove to get at the back of the assembly. I'll check this morning when I get home and post back. You'll need some silicone to plug the hole up.

I have the reflector off now. Back when I fixed the license plate screws I caulked the holes you are talking about. I still get the water though.

My cure was to reinforce the whole reflector assembly area around the plate area with thick foam tape. This held up for 2-3 years but the inherent crappy design has let the water work its way through again. I just keep a stash of extra reverse bulbs on-hand and replace them as they rust out. I had a pic of my fix somewhere but I can't find it at the moment.

Sorry I can't be more specific, HTH
