If you're still thinking about the Gran Prix, I'd recommend you take it to a trusted mechanic and get his opinion on it, and his estimate of how much money it would take to get it into reliable shape for the period of time you intend to drive it. You have to balance that cost against the cost of fixing up your Camry. General Motors makes decent cars, and most of them should last for 200,000 miles if they are given proper care. Toyota obviously has a good reputation, and I know people with over 300,000 miles on Toyota products. You really need to talk to your mechanic about both cars and put your faith in his recommendations. another factor to think about: if you buy the GP, can you get any money out of the Camry if you sell it? If so, that could give you a few bucks toward fixing up the GP.
