they want 2350 for it, so im sure it needs a little work. but my camry needs a new rear oil seal and new timing belt.

so what would you do?

keep the 96 camry i already own with 200557 miles?

or buy the 97 grand prix gt with 136k miles for $2350?

I'd put a few more bucks into that camry of yours. 200,xxx miles? That's amazing!

I'm not a big fan of those Pontiacs. That plymouth next to it, though...

Here's the questions you need to answer yourself:

Is the Camry paid off? (I would hope so)
Point: The GP wouldn't be..(or "would be" but you'd be out the cash, upfront.)

You said it yourself: It would need "a little" work, the question is: do you know WHAT?
Point: You KNOW your car, and EXACTLY what's gone out, going out, new, replaced, etc..

Is there anything wrong with your current car?
Point: $2350 can go a LONG way to repair pretty much anything that "could" go wrong with your car...

Do you have a need to change cars, due to lifestyle, family, etc?
Point: The things a 4-door family hauler... uhm.... wait.. don't you already have one of those?

My call.. I wouldn't do it.. I would rest assured with the knowledge I have in mine, and drive it until the wheels fall off... Then, if/when that time comes, get a car that you can have a warranty, and a little piece of mind on...

Paraphrase: Why trade in a used, high-mileage car for a used high-mileage car, when you gain nothing but "model year numbers".. which mean nothing, if your current car runs strong..
