I need some trans work done on my backup car, a 1992 Olds Achieva SCX. It's got the 190HP W41 Quad-4 HO motor with the 3.94 FDR 5-speed manual. Since I know I'm gonna need trans work on my 'tour in the future, I figured I'd ask here and have a tested/trusted place to go. (Yes, I know about HMS over in Grand Rapids, but he's real busy and far.)
I just need the trans properly attached back up to the car. The motor and accessories are out and the engine is getting remanned, so it's not driveable. I can tow it wherever and push into the car bay, etc. It's pretty light w/o the motor and trans.

Bill, call the place I just took my car to. They can do most work there, but for major trans. work they send things out to Jasper. It seemed shady when I first brought my car there because it's a garage attached to a gas station, but it's two seperate companies (gas station and garage). The manager of the garage knows his [censored]. The place is called Maple & Crooks Auto Care. It's on the NE corner of 15 and Crooks. Call 248-362-3412 and ask for Ron and tell him Ryan with the red Contour referred you. You will not be dissapointed with them.
Edit: I just re-read your post. See if they will give you a deal on towing the car to/from if you get the work done there, too.

Hey,
What's up, man. I ran into you that one night from Lifetime Fitness in Troy way back when. My work's R&D office is right down the way from there. The gas station you're talking about is a Mobil, right? 7-Eleven is right next to it?

Yeah, that was probably about 3 years ago now, haha. I got into a huge fight with my girlfriend that night. I remember though. I saw you at Somerset Mall once, too, with your girfriend at the time. Anyhow, yes. It's that Mobil station right there next to 711. The shop manager is Ron and the owner of the shop and gas station is Jack. Both are real good guys.

Can't find. What city? Is this west or eastside? Looking preferably for places on the east side of the state. The car's in Troy.
