Im about to change my oil, i got the car about 4 months ago from a dealer and have no idea if there is synthetic oil in it or how many miles areon that oil. the current oil isnt burnt or anything, it actually looks pretty good. But im thinking about running synthetic now. can you switch like that? what oil filter do u reccomend? how is mobil 1 synthetic for oil? how many quarts does the SVT take? thanks for the help guys

most of what u asked can be found thru the search function. it doesnt really bother me but others get slightly allowed.

welcome to ceg

and heres my answer.how many miles does the car have. switching to synthetic isnt a problem. some say not to do it if car is high mileage. mobil1 is used alot on here. alot use amsoil which i use. redline and a few other brands. filters again i use amsoil. i think the majority of mobil1 users use a k&n filter. svt takes 5.8 quarts but we fill just above the max level so we put in 6-6.3 quarts.

As a matter of personal preference, Royal Purple.

Switching to synthetic on a higher mileage engine can sometimes cause a leak. Try it once to see if you have any.

The 2.5 does have some oiling issues, so as stated, go with 6 to 6 1/4 qts.

Mobil 1 is the best 'department store' oil. Amsoil, redline royal purple etc are very good oils, but can be pricey.

Amsoil is my preference above mobil 1 and royal purple, but all 3 are very good choices.
