I'd wait and do a whole SVT UIM, LIM and throttle body change.
But to answer your previous question, you need the 19lb Orange colored injectors (cause you ahve a return fuel system)
But i ahve hear of some people having prioblems when doing just this mod by itself.....some lose power some gain.
Do a search beacasue this has be talked about many times.
Good Luck

well the thing is i got a deal on an svt lim that comes w/ the fuel rails and injectors
i am just wondering if i can swap to the other style fuel rails w/out any modifications so i can run the top feed style
i have already increased the airflow into the motor and i might as well compensate
to be blunt all i want to know is if it will fit

the SVT LIM will fit, and the fuel rails are the same (as long as its return system), but if its fomr a return less system it won;t work.

95 was the only year for vacuum IMRC here.
Only year for OBD-I as well.

i just did the swap this past weekend it is pretty simple but i just used my regular injectors and fuel rail. it all just dropped rght in. i had the lim and an extra uim that i had cleanbe dout real good at a machine shop. i also smooth out the throttle mouth on that uim by grinding those 3 squere piece down smooth with a regular grinder drill bit. i have pics of the lim on my link below. i didnt get pic sof the uim though i just wanted to hurry up and get it all back together its hot down here.

Except you have a 98 which is unlike his 96. (rail & injectors) Hence all the other posts.

To give you a more direct answer:
If you want to upgrade to a SVT LIM and keep the same size injectors you currently have, you need:
SVT LIM (2000 SVT LIM is the best, its bigger)
Top-fed injectors (from a 98+ non-SVT)
Top-feed return-style fuel rail (from a 98 contour, NOT 99+ as they changed to returnless)
If you want to use the larger 19# SVT injectors, you must get the orange colored injectors from a 98 SVT, because they are designed for your return style fuel sytem. You will also run very rich until you get a custom chip burned that is tuned for the larger injectors. Contour's changed over to returnless fuel system (incompatible with your car) around the 99 year I beleive.

...or just get one from a 00+ Cougar since all Returnless cars have the large LIM (i.e. RLIM)
Should be around $100 from car-part.com
