ok my car has been in the body shop for about 8 months get it out put it back together try to start it and nothing. trouble shoot all the way to the head and sure enough i have 6 rocker arms on the intake side of the rear head. i think that the valves seized up and when i tried to turn it over the rocker arms broke. only other option would be thatt the timing chain slipped a couple teeth and the piston and the vavles connected. But i am not sure the v6 is a volital engine

any help in figuring out what could of happne would be appreciated.

and it wasn't started for about 9 months

The Duratec is a non-interference motor meaning that if it senses knock or unordinary time advance or retard the computer will back off the timing or advance it in order to keep the piston from smacking the head or valves...However , its not a failsafe fix..
especially, if it had not been started in months...Replace the rockers, lifters, and valve springs. Check the valves for being bent or pitted. If so replace. Or just find some used low mile heads and forego all the crap. It sounds like oiling could have been an issue (understatement!) but it had to be something real extreme to have caused this type of failure. Are you sure it had not already happened nine months ago?? Sounds like a real hard drive had or HAS taken place since youve put in the shop!

well it might have happened before cause it was screwing up pretty bad. i had a lot of work done to it. but never thought it would be that bad. but the timing is way off so the chain jumped several teeth somehow. it doesn't seem tight at all. so maybe my tensioner went to [censored]. well i guess ford is going to get a little bit more money out of me. but while the heads are off i will have the precats hollowed and the head ported and polished.

I have never heard of a explaination of a "Non Interference Engine" like yours. As I understand it to mean is, lets say the timming chain/chains in the engine failed, some valves of the engine will come to a stop, with some of them open. The crankshaft/pistons with a lot more mass will not stop as fast and the pistons would smack into the open valves. The computer has nothing to do with it.
Is the V-6 engine really a Non Interference Motor?

The Duratec V6 is an interference engine. You can tap valves into pistons with the timing off by as little as one tooth. I have seen it happen personally.

On the Zetec, the pistons will, or will not hit the valves?
