I get a loud pop, or bang, on a regular basis when backing up and turning the steering wheel. Very common when making a 3 pt turn, and backing out of a driveway. I pulled on the tie rods, and all is tight. Any ideas.

In the past when my frontend has had this problem, it was either a bad cv axle or my subframe was loose. My recomendation would be to check both. See if there is and cv grease anywhere, possible cv boot torn, when it dries out the cv joint is usually the next thing to go bad. hope this helps.

Mine does this when I back up after using the hand brake and particularly when the car is parked with the nose pointing up and incline. Often the hand brake doesn't release all the way until the rotors move. They bind!

Sounds like a CV joint gone bad, or a tierod.
Check both out...look for axle grease on the subframe.
But thats been my experience if i hear a poping noise in my front end.

Thanks for the posts. I'll see what I can find out over the weekend. I can certainly say it's not the handbrake, I had that problem earlier as well!

When I had a popping in my front end it was caused by the sway bar link, the one that goes from the sway bar to the strut. Got that replaced and had no troubles after. Well not from that part anyway.

I had the same problem. I replaced the front strut bearings and its gone now. I suspect the upper spring moving in the strut seating...but who knows.
